About Us...
The Polish Heritage Awareness Society of Central Wisconsin, Inc. is an organization dedicated to the education, promotion and preservation of Polish American Heritage. Located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, we have members all over the USA who once lived in the area or who can trace their ancestry back to Central Wisconsin. Polish people began arriving in Central Wisconsin in 1857, making it one of the oldest rural settlements in the United States. Poles settled here mostly from the Kaszuby region of Poland and many from the Gulcz region, near Poznan, and later from every region of Poland making our area very rich in Polish heritage. Evidence of our heritage can be seen in the impressive rural churches and one-of-a-kind wayside shrines. Polish Heritage Trail Bike/Auto Trail |
